Five Lakes Golf Club has just celebrated achieving the GolfMark from England Golf at an annual competition for all members.
GolfMark is a national award which recognises junior and beginner-friendly facilities and the plaque was presented to Five Lakes by their guest of honour, Stewart White of BBC Look East.
Over 90 members celebrated the award by taking part in the Crowne Plaza invitational. The competition was preceded by breakfast and a briefing from PGA professional Gary Carter and followed by lunch provided by the hotel.
The trophy was won by Frank Taylor (21) with 39 points, followed by Neil Shinwell (12) with 38 points and Phil Roblin (14), who came third on countback with 37 points. Four other players also had 37 points: Stephen Ward, Jackson Garnett, Phil Robson and Malcolm Pook. Nearest the pins were won by Alan Hayes on the 8th, Jackson Garnett on the 11th, longest and closest to the line on the 13th hole was Nigel Popper.
